Got an apprenticeship interview coming up, or want to be ready when one lands? The Essex Apprenticeship Hub’s free online session will help you walk in prepared and walk out proud of how you did.

Interview nerves are completely normal, especially when you’re not sure what to expect. This session is designed specifically for apprenticeship interviews, so rather than generic advice, you’ll get a clear picture of the different types of interviews you might face and what each one is actually looking for. We’ll cover how to prepare properly in the days beforehand, so you walk in feeling ready rather than caught off guard.

We’ll work through the most common interview questions for apprenticeship roles, what employers are really trying to find out when they ask them, and how to give answers that are honest, specific and genuinely show off your skills and experience, even if you feel like you don’t have much yet. We’ll also cover the things that don’t always get talked about: how to communicate professionally, what your body language is quietly saying about you, and the small things that help you make a strong first impression from the moment you log on or walk in.

It’s not just about answering questions well either. We’ll talk through the kinds of questions you can ask the employer that show genuine interest and help you work out if the role is right for you too, interviews go both ways.

What’s covered: We’ll begin with a welcome and introductions, then look at the different types of interviews you might come across and how to prepare properly for each one. From there we’ll work through common interview questions and how to answer them, including how to demonstrate your skills and experience even if you feel like you don’t have much yet. We’ll then cover professional communication and body language, and how to make a positive first impression from the moment you log on. We’ll also talk through the kinds of questions you can ask the employer, before wrapping up with our top tips for interview success and a live Q&A.
