Build Your Future: AWE Engineering Taster Day (Year 10-13) – Session 3

Are you a student in Year 10 and above, fascinated by how things work, love building or designing, and curious about a career in engineering? 

Step into the world of AWE Nuclear Security Technologies at the Engineering Taster Day, a hands-on experience designed to give you a real feel for what it’s like to work on cutting-edge engineering projects that keep the nation safe. 

For over 75 years, AWE has supported the UK Government’s nuclear defence strategy and national security. They use their nuclear know-how and technical expertise to provide innovative solutions that support the UK’s counter-terrorism and nuclear threat reduction activities. This is your chance to explore the exciting apprenticeship opportunities that help make it all happen. 

On the day, you will: 

• Take part in practical engineering challenges 

• Meet and work alongside current apprentices 

• Explore the different engineering apprenticeship roles available 

• Practise assessment centre-style activities and get feedback 

• Receive insider advice from AWE’s Early Careers Team 

Parents & Carers of Attendees are Welcome   

We warmly encourage parents and carers to stay for the event. While students take part in activities, parents will be able to attend a dedicated session covering:  

• How apprenticeships at AWE work  

• The support AWE provides to young people  

• Career progression and long-term opportunities  

• A chance to speak directly with AWE managers and the recruitment team  

Whether you’re just starting to explore engineering or already considering applying for an apprenticeship soon, this event will give you real insight, practical experience and a head start in your journey.
