Millions of people rely on BT every day to help them live their lives, power their businesses, and keep their public services running. They connect friends to family, clients to colleagues, people to possibilities. They keep the wheels of business spinning, and the emergency services responding. And they use the power of technology to help solve big challenges, like climate change and cyber security.
About the role:
Digital Support Technicians play a key role in looking after BT’s bespoke communications networks for some of their clients that help keep our country safe. You’ll be helping to manage the support and development of global and highly complex voice and data platforms solutions, following the ITIL service operations model. They can’t tell you too much more about what it is you’ll be doing, as a lot of the work we do is highly sensitive and secure, but – in their opinion at least – it’s really exciting.
Your day-to-day work can range from troubleshooting network faults to completing customer and internal work orders, to system administration, project support and migration support. You’ll also carry out tasks to help install and commission various types of new equipment and technologies within their various bespoke platforms – it’s all in a day’s work for you.
About the apprenticeship you’ll study for:
As a Support Technician, you’ll study for a Diploma for Information Technology and Telecommunications Professionals SCQF Level 6. Your apprenticeship scheme will last 18 months and 20% of your working hours will be dedicated to studying.
5 GCSEs at grades 4 – 9 (GCSE C or above) including English Language and Maths. Equivalent qualifications are accepted.
