Description

We’re the public body that looks after England’s historic environment. We champion historic places to help people understand, value and care for them. We are excited to share with you an opportunity to complete a Digital Support Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship over the course of 18 months at Historic England, based in our busy Digital Engagement Team at our Swindon office. (With a blend of time in the office and remote working possible)

You may already understand the value of heritage to the local economy, to the communities living nearby and to people who visit heritage sites, however applying for an apprenticeship with us means you can contribute to the work we do at Historic England to help protect, enhance and reveal heritage for everyone.

As part of our Digital Engagement Team, as a Junior Tester you will support the digital delivery team in testing Historic England`s nationally significant corporate website against pre-determined acceptance criteria. The role will involve conducting manual testing, raising and tracking defects and assisting in documentation. This role would suit someone who has some knowledge of basic coding and would like to develop that interest into a career within software development.

What will you be doing?
80% of your time will be spent in the workplace, and 20% of your time will be spent off the job, completing a training programme specially designed for your apprenticeship with a recognised training provider. This learning may be delivered via in person workshops, in the workplace or by online delivery.
You will learn from experienced colleagues who will support you to gradually take on the following responsibilities through the duration of your apprenticeship.

What will you be able to do in the future?
This apprenticeship will give you knowledge skills and experience that will greatly enhance your future career prospects. Once you have successfully completed your apprenticeship you will have gained 18 months of work experience and a solid grounding in the process of software testing. Those completing the Digital Support Technician apprenticeship will be recognised for entry onto the BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT, Register of IT Technicians confirming SFIA level 3 professional competence.
