Jaguar Land Rover is a multi-site business and you’ll be required to spend time working with different departments at several locations. Once you’ve successfully completed your apprenticeship, you can look forward to a long-term career with us. The role you take on will depend on your performance, personal preferences and business needs.

Maintenance:
Our Manufacturing Maintenance teams at Halewood are responsible for the ongoing monitoring, maintenance and control of all equipment used in the manufacturing process, as well as driving process and facility improvements. Apprentices have a great opportunity to learn a number of key skills across our technology areas: Body, Paint, Trim & Final (T&F)

Stamping Group (Press Shop):
At the heart of the Press Shop, you’ll become either a Mechatronics Maintenance Technician or a toolmaker, working with a range of facilities including state-of-the-art press lines and a high level of automation and robotics. You could be responsible for maintaining all Press facilities, including servo presses, hydraulic presses and crane and conveyor systems to ensure our manufacturing operation runs smoothly.

Mechatronics Maintenance Technicians support our in-house machine wellness strategy. You will be involved in undertaking major strip-down, refurbishment and repair activities to improve equipment availability and performance.

As a Toolmaker, you will have the opportunity to learn cutting-edge maintenance techniques using world class facilities. You’ll enjoy operating and maintaining very large mechanical presses and associated components along with the latest technology electrical and electronic control systems, giving you a steep learning curve.

The apprenticeship:
The Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship – Manufacturing is a four-year programme, delivered to Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education (IfATE) standards. This exciting programme will develop your practical skills and cultivate the knowledge you need for your role, including business behaviours such as team working and problem-solving. In particular, you will learn how to work safely and make a technical contribution to the development, quality assurance, manufacture, installation, commissioning, decommissioning, operation or repair and maintenance of our products or equipment. Your pathway will depend upon the area of the business in which you will be based. You will be asked for your preference on business area ahead of attending an assessment with us.

In your first year, your time will be spent studying at our education provider and working at a Jaguar Land Rover plant alongside members of our skilled teams. In subsequent years, you will predominantly work in the plant, and you’ll continue your studies leading up to your End Point Assessment (EPA). Throughout your apprenticeship, you will have constant guidance and support from both the business and the training provider.
