Description

We`re the public body that looks after England`s historic environment. We champion historic places to help people understand, value and care for them. We are excited to share with you an opportunity to complete a PR & Communications Assistant Level 4 Apprenticeship over the course of 15 months at Historic England, based in our busy Partnerships & Communications Team at our Cambridge office. (With a blend of time in the office and remote working possible)
You may already understand the value of heritage to the local economy, to the communities living nearby and to people who visit heritage sites, however applying for an apprenticeship with us means you can contribute to the work we do at Historic England to help protect, enhance and reveal heritage for everyone.

During the duration of your apprenticeship you will support the Stakeholder Engagement Adviser and Public Engagement Manager with the promotion of Historic England`s work to external audiences.
Under the supervision and guidance of your managers, you will learn how to support your colleagues in engagement with heritage partners and, through social media monitoring, wider audiences with an interest in heritage.
As your apprenticeship progresses, you`ll also learn how to identify news stories and support colleagues in the writing of press releases and promotion of stories to journalists, create website articles and social media posts.

What will you be doing?
80% of your time will be spent in the workplace, and 20% of your time will be spent off the job, completing a training programme specially designed for your apprenticeship with a recognised training provider. This learning may be delivered via in person workshops, in the workplace or by online delivery.

You will learn from experienced colleagues who will support you to gradually take on the following responsibilities through the duration of your apprenticeship

What will you be able to do in the future?
This apprenticeship will give you the knowledge skills and experience that will greatly enhance your future career prospects. Once you have successfully completed your apprenticeship you will have gained 15 months of work experience and a solid grounding in media and communications. Anyone successfully completing the apprenticeship will be eligible to apply for membership of the Public Relations & Communications Association (PRCA). While we cannot guarantee an offer of a permanent post within Historic England at the end of your apprenticeship, we are committed to your future and providing you with a solid foundation of skills and experience.
