While you complete your degree, you’ll be on a full-time contract and will have the opportunity of a permanent role following graduation. Typically, you’ll be at uni one day per week, with the other four spent in the workplace, though the balance may change as you progress through your degree. 

This programme is a three-way partnership between you, SP Energy Networks and the university; we’ll work together to get the best out of you, ensuring the best possible start to your career.

What will you be doing? 

Course and University  – BSc (Hons) Graduate Apprenticeship Construction and Built Environment (Quantity Surveying) @ Glasgow Caledonian University 

The Quantity Surveying (QS) Team is responsible for delivering commercial support, expertise and knowledge from Contract Award stage through to the conclusion of the Final Account for a portfolio of Transmission network engineering and construction projects. We’re involved in a variety of exciting projects such as Beauly Denny, the longest transmission line to be built in the UK and one which crosses the highest and most inaccessible terrain in Great Britain.  

As a QS Graduate Apprentice, you’ll be a key member of the team, playing a vital role assisting in the delivery of fundamental QS activities that will support your studies and develop your experience. You’ll have the opportunity to be involved in multiple tasks such as assessing monthly contractor measures (payment applications), commercial evaluations of project variations and contact and tender reviews. We’re looking for someone who wants to do a BSc (Hons) Graduate Apprenticeship Construction and Built Environment (Quantity Surveying) at Glasgow Caledonian University and will work in our Cambuslang office.

You’ll need four Highers at grades A-C (or equivalent), with two of those at a minimum of a B. You’ll also need to have National 5 (or equivalent) in English and Maths. You’ll also need a driving licence as you’ll need to get to different sites both during and after your training period.
