Joining Telford Homes as a Trainee in the Technical department will enable you to become an effective leader of the future. You will participate in a structured training program on our tailored trainee scheme over five or two years as a graduate or on a degree apprenticeship programme. You will develop your skills, knowledge, and behaviour so you are set up to step into the role of Assistant Technical Co-ordinator at the end of your training scheme – you will be encouraged to gain a relevant industry accreditation, and we will support your efforts to do so.

You will spend time working in other areas of the business to give you an understanding of how our business works as well as receiving extensive on the job training. The duration of your scheme will depend on your prior experience and whether you have already achieved a Construction related degree, and this programme can also be studied as a part-time degree apprenticeship programme supported by Telford Homes.

What to expect on a day-to-day basis

Progress through the Trainee Task List, developing understanding of the key elements of the job. and attend relevant college course and pass with acceptable grades.

Assist with the management of Consultants to prepare and submit the Building Regulation package and assist the preparation and development of briefs and appointment of all necessary Consultants. You will assist in the briefing and management of external design consultants to produce a detailed design package from approved planning drawings and maintain and update records of design, including drawings, registers, reports etc.

You will have a role in the Involvement in processes such as Code for Sustainable Homes / Eco Homes, Secure by Design, SDS, SAP calcs etc. As well as liaise with all departments to ensure full integration of design process within business and visit site as necessary to ensure seamless transition from Design to Construction phase. You will also be expected to Liaise with Housing Associations to agree and discuss contracts, specifications and production and close out any technical queries and assist with production of design program ensuring the design package includes sufficient detail for a comprehensive tender.
