Description

Joining Telford Homes as a Trainee in the Commercial department will enable you to become an effective leader of the future. You will participate in a structured training program on our tailored trainee scheme over five or two years as a graduate or on a degree apprenticeship programme.

You will develop your skills, knowledge and behavior so you are set up to step into the role of Assistant Quantity Surveyor at the end of your training scheme – you will be encouraged to gain your RICS accreditation, and we will support your efforts to do so. You will spend time working in other areas of the business to give you an understanding of how our business works as well as receiving extensive on the job training.

The duration of your scheme will depend on your prior experience and whether you have already achieved a Construction related degree, and this programme can also be studied as a part-time degree apprenticeship programme supported by Telford Homes.

What to expect on a day-to-day basis

Progress through the Trainee Task List, developing understanding of the key elements of the job and attend relevant college course and pass with acceptable grades.

Build personal knowledge of Telford Homes business and the wider construction industry while assisting in the production of a Sub-contract Tenderers list for project team approval

Assist in agreeing subcontract final accounts on completion of works and certify payment and release of retention in stages as due and understand and contribute to monthly Cost Reports to accurately reflect the current position of the job and forecast the final financial cost of the project

Understand and assist in production of monthly Preliminaries Cash Flow. Assist in production of monthly client valuations and submit them in accordance with conditions of the main contract such that payments are received by the due date, taking full responsibility for the project’s cash position

Requirements: To have attained at least a level 3 (or equivalent) qualification during education, or a construction related degree for a graduate role
