Before you start

All successful applicants will need to:

  • be over the age of 18
  • have right to work in the UK
  • have achieved a minimum maths and English GCSE grade 4 (or C), or equivalent
  • have a valid UK driving licence and access to a car or vehicle to travel to placements

To successfully complete this form you will need to upload evidence of your right to work in the UK.

How you provide evidence of your right to work in the UK depends on your nationality and what kind of permission you have to work in the UK.

Some examples include:

  • Status under the EU Settlement Scheme

What is the eligibility criteria?

All candidates must:

• Have a valid right to work in the UK and provide evidence of this at application stage

• Be aged 18 or over

• Have the legal right to drive in the UK, and access to a vehicle for the full three-week programme

• Have achieved a Maths and English GCSE Grade 4 or C and above (or equivalent)

 

Our ideal candidates will:

• Be interested in managing projects, problem solving, and working outside.

• Enjoy working in a team

• Have strong communication skills

Why do candidates need to be able to drive?

Site Managers are often responsible for multiple sites at different locations and attend meetings in Head Offices. It is therefore a requirement by employers that candidates are able to drive and have access to a vehicle to enable them to shadow during the work placement. Site manager job vacancies similarly require applicants to have a driving licence and vehicle.

Where are placements located?

Placement locations are subject to change, depending on the sites available from participating home builders. A full breakdown of placement locations are available on the application form. Are there any costs to take part? Home builders sponsor candidates on the programme that have been matched to their sites. Therefore, the three-week programme is fully funded and free for all successful candidates. However, you must be available to commit three weeks to take part in the online training sessions and work placements. The dates for each cohort are outlined in the application form.

Will I get paid during my work placement?

No, but we will cover your out of pocket travel and childcare expenses up to £350 and your host employer will provide you with adequate PPE clothing and boots during your placement.
