National Apprenticeship Week 2022

What is National Apprenticeship week?

National Apprenticeship Week is always an excellent time to celebrate the ways that apprenticeships can change lives, boost businesses and kickstart some incredible careers. With over 1,200 virtual and in-person events taking place across the country, we are pleased to have hosted a variety of events with current apprentices from a range of different companies, defeat common myths surrounding apprenticeships and attend some in-person events too!

This year, National Apprenticeship Week was all about focusing on the benefits apprenticeships can have on individuals, businesses, and local communities.

All our events will be able to watch on demand but keep reading to find out what we got up to during National Apprenticeship Week 2022…

How was Pathway CTM involved in National Apprenticeship Week?

We kickstarted the week by informing students on the alternative options they have to University. We discussed the different levels of Apprenticeships and how you can start looking for your apprenticeship, as well as giving students the opportunity to speak to apprentices themselves. You can re-watch this live now!

We even delved into hosting a variety of events during the week with a number of top employers, including; BT, Accenture, Allen & Overy, British Airways and HSBC! This was a great opportunity for all students, teachers and parents to hear more about the employers who are actively looking for future talent to take part in the apprenticeship scheme.

It is so great to hear directly from apprentices, and we truly believe this has helped more young people learn about their alternative options and help us detangle the common myths that surround apprentices.

Hollie Keen, a 3rd year Apprentice at BT said the event was: “really informative event, with questions flooding in from students – all relating to our schemes, experiences and highlights at BT. It is so lovely to see this kind of engagement coming from students and potential future Apprentices. As a 3rd year Apprentice now,  I can truly say I’m slowly but surely starting to see the Degree Apprenticeship pathway increase in popularity!

Our events meant young people were able to receive career guidance and gain some important tips to finding the right career for them.

Pathway CTM’s Outreach Manager, Max added: “It was so great to hear from apprentices of different levels talking so passionately about what they do on a daily basis and what they are achieving. The students and parents on our sessions really appreciated hearing from them directly and getting a better understanding of how good Apprenticeships actually are.”

Our in-person event at New City College Engineering and Construction College was the first of many and we were delighted to be joined by Telford Homes to discuss their apprenticeship opportunities. Students had the chance to take part in an activation and to learn more about who Telford Homes are and what they do!
