Within SP Energy Networks, they are focusing on harnessing technology and innovation to create the networks of the future. With distribution networks designed for predictable, stable demand, it’s vital they upgrade their network to create the flexibility required to cope with the extensive changes to electricity demand, generation, and consumer behaviour. Through technology and innovation, they will enable a consumer-led revolution in the use and operation of their system. It will undergo the biggest changes to its design and operation for over half a century; and you can be part of it.

What you’ll be doing:
The four-year Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Apprenticeship programme offers the opportunity for on-the-job learning and unique work experiences. Throughout your course, you’ll see how your studies relate to real life Renewable’s operations scenarios, from the principals of Wind Energy and Power Engineering to Electrical, Mechanical and Hydraulic theory. You’ll develop your hand skills through practical work tasks on their fleet of onshore wind turbines, helping bring your learning to life. Throughout your course, you’ll see how your studies relate to both traditional and current engineering methods, building the foundations of your career as a technician. And at the end of the programme, you’ll be ready to become an Operations Technician.

Entry Requirements:
You’ll need two Highers at grades A-C (or equivalent) including Maths and either English or Physics.
You’ll need to be comfortable operating at heights and have a driving licence to get to and around the site.
