Ellie Shipton, Head of Employer Relations at Pathway CTM

As a classic case of choosing my favourite subject at school and following the crowd, I went to Sussex University and studied History with French. I enjoyed university but came out the other end with little more idea of what I wanted to do than when I first started.

After graduating I moved to Lyon in France where a landed my first job in media. I then came back to London and worked my way up to become Account Director for a global advertising agency, working on Volkswagen Global brand.

After years in advertising, I realised my heart was not fully in it and wanted to move into a sector where I could help support people, as we do here at Pathway CTM – helping young people get the best out of their future!

What advice would you tell your 16-18 year-old self?

Life can be unpredictable and luck plays a part, but if you work hard and focus on what you want to achieve you can make your own luck.
